Privacy policy
Effective 23 October 2026. Applies to the Nodavox Android app (package com.etech.nodavox) and the website nodavox.com.
1. Who we are
Nodavox is published by E-Tech Consulting, Australia. Questions about this policy or your data: nodavox@motorloop.com.au.
2. Data the app stores on your device
| Data | Why | Where it goes |
|---|---|---|
| Watcher configuration: names, groups, hosts, IP addresses, ports, URLs, DNS names, Wi-Fi network identifiers, schedules, parent/child links | To run the checks you set up | Stays on the device. Included in setup exports you create. |
| Service credentials (for example SNMP communities, database or mail logins you choose to enter) | Some protocol checks need them | Stored encrypted on the device. Excluded from exports unless you explicitly include them. |
| Check results and history: status, latency, error text, timestamps | Status dots, history and alerts | Stays on the device. Included in history exports you create. |
| App settings and preferences | Views, density, alert options, pause state | Stays on the device. |
Uninstalling the app deletes all of this. You can also delete individual watchers, clear history, or use Replace on import to start fresh.
3. Network traffic the app generates
When a check runs, Nodavox connects directly from your phone to the host you configured, using the protocol you chose (ICMP, TCP, HTTP(S), SMTP, IMAP, DNS, NTP, SNMP, LDAP, database handshakes, MQTT, RDP and so on). Those hosts see your device's network address and the connection, as any client would. Interface triggers decide when a check runs (for example only on a favourite Wi-Fi network); they do not change where the traffic goes. Nodavox does not route checks through any server of ours, and it does not contact any server of ours at all.
4. Permissions and what they are used for
| Permission | Use |
|---|---|
| Internet, network state, Wi-Fi state | Running checks; detecting the active interface so Wi-Fi, mobile and internet triggers fire correctly. |
| Location (fine / coarse) | Android requires location permission to read the current Wi-Fi network identifier (BSSID). Nodavox uses it only for the optional favourite-network trigger. No location is recorded, stored or transmitted. The app works without this permission. |
| Notifications | Down and recovery alerts; the persistent background-monitoring notification. |
| Foreground service (special use), wake lock, boot completed, exact alarms, ignore battery optimisations | Keeping scheduled checks running reliably in the background and after a restart. Exact alarms and battery exemption are optional and requested from you in Settings. |
5. AI-assisted setup and analysis
Nodavox can generate a text prompt (containing its setup schema and any notes you paste) and can export status or history as CSV or JSON. You choose whether to copy or share that text with an AI assistant or anyone else. Nodavox contains no AI provider key and never sends data to an AI service itself. Anything you share with a third-party assistant is governed by that provider's privacy terms; review exports before sharing and avoid including secrets you do not want them to receive.
6. Data we receive
- From the app: none. There is no telemetry, crash reporting, analytics, advertising or usage tracking SDK in Nodavox.
- Google Play: if you install through Google Play, Google provides us aggregated install and crash statistics under Google's privacy policy. We do not receive your identity from this.
- Email: if you contact support we keep the correspondence for as long as needed to help you and for a reasonable period afterwards.
7. This website
nodavox.com is a statically generated site served from our own infrastructure. It sets no cookies and uses no analytics, fonts or scripts from third parties. Our web server keeps standard access logs (IP address, requested page, browser user agent, timestamp) for security and troubleshooting; these are rotated and discarded on a short cycle and are not shared.
8. Children
Nodavox is a general-purpose utility and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. Because the app collects nothing from users, no age-specific processing takes place.
9. Security
Credentials you enter are stored encrypted using Android's platform key storage. Setup exports exclude credentials by default. You are responsible for protecting your device and any exports you create.
10. Your rights
Since we hold no personal data about app users, there is nothing for us to access, correct, port or delete on your behalf; all of it is under your direct control on your device. If you have emailed us and want that correspondence deleted, ask at the address above. Australian users may complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner; EU and UK users to their local supervisory authority.
11. Changes
If a future version of Nodavox introduces an optional cloud or trusted-phone feature, this policy will be updated before that feature ships, and such features will be opt-in. The effective date at the top reflects the latest revision.
